Fumbling Towards Ecstasy: Chapter 63

Amost there.......

Chapter Sixty Three

“Do you miss him?” Lulu asked softly, settling herself next to Logan on the couch.

“I do,” Logan smiled sadly, wrapping his arm around Lulu’s tiny waist.  He gently kissed her cheek.  “I think I always will.  I’ve never really been apart from Parker; he’s been a huge part of my life for seven years.”

“I’m sorry,” Lulu snuggled against Logan’s chest.

“I will always love that boy like he was my own,” Logan said quietly.

“I know you will,” Lulu tenderly caressed Logan’s face.  “And Parker will always treasure the relationship he shares with his uncle.  Despite everything, he’s a lucky little boy.  He has two wonderful men in his life who love him dearly.  He has Robin,” she glanced shyly at her boyfriend.  “He has me.”  Lulu sighed, nestling her cheek against Logan’s shoulder.  “He’s lost his mother, Logan.  And he’s always going to carry that grief with him.  No matter how old he gets, or how much we love him.  Mothers are irreplaceable.”

“How old were you when you lost yours?” Logan asked gently, cupping her face with his hand.

“I was young,” Lulu gazed out the window; the dusky sky cast long shadows across the street.  Images crowded her mind.  Soft blue eyes that sparkled with happiness.  Blonde hair that swung freely around a kind face.  A booming laugh that shook her whole body. These were the things she remembered about her mother.  Just flashes, snapshots in time of a woman she’d never really known.  A woman she would miss for the rest of her life.  “I’ll never forget what it was like to be held by her.  I don’t remember much about her, but I’ll always know how much she loved me.  I mean, she’s not dead..” Lulu’s voice trailed into silence.

“But she’s still lost to you,” Logan finished softly.

“Yeah,” Lulu’s eyes misted with tears.  She quickly wiped them away.  “I’m sorry, Logan, I didn’t mean to be such a downer.”

“You’re not,” Logan wrapped his arms around Lulu, gently dropping a kiss on her head.  “I am so lucky to have you, Lu.  Do you know that?” He tipped her chin up until her green eyes met his dark ones.  “I know it sounds corny to say,” he blushed slightly, “but the world seems different now.  I don’t know if I could have made it through the past few months without you.  No, that’s not right,” he threaded his fingers through Lulu’s long blonde hair.  “I do know.  I would not have made it through.  I wouldn’t have been able to be there for Parker if you hadn’t been there for me.  I am so grateful to you, Lulu.”  He paused, words pressing against his lips.  “I love you, Lulu Spencer.”

“Oh, Logan,” Lulu breathed, her green eyes filling with tears.  “I feel the same way about you.  I love you, too.”

“So I’m going to need a place to stay other than Mac’s spare bedroom,” Logan said thoughtfully.  “And I’m going to need to find a job.”

“You can live here,” Lulu said quickly.  “I mean, if you want to.”

“Are you sure?” Logan slid his fingers into Lulu’s.  “I can find my own place.  I don’t want to rush things.”

“I’m sure,” Lulu arched up, catching Logan’s lips with her own.  Her tongue darted inside his mouth, and she felt him gasp with pleasure.  She giggled.  “It’s not like you don’t stay over most nights anyway.”

“True statement,” Logan chuckled, slipping his fingers up under Lulu’s shirt.  “I find it very hard to leave you every night to return to a cold empty bed.”

“Now you don’t have to,” Lulu’s breath quickened as Logan’s fingers found her breasts.

“What about Parker?” Logan dropped wet kisses along Lulu’s neck.  “Do you mind having a small child around here when it’s my turn to have him?”

“You know, one of my employees is looking for an affordable place to rent,” Lulu shivered at Logan’s touch.  “Maybe she could rent this one.  Maybe we could look for a new place.  Together.”

Logan’s hand hovered over the button of Lulu’s jeans.  He grinned.  “You are a genius, Lulu.”  He popped the button, snaking his fingers inside.

“We….must…” Lulu gasped.  “stop talking about Parker, now.”

“I agree,” Logan smiled as he felt Lulu’s body jerk with pleasure as he slipped a finger inside her wet center.  “I’m about to do very very bad things to you.”

“You make me feel so good,” Lulu moaned, arching her body back and wiggling out of her jeans.

“Excellent,” Logan whispered.  “That’s the idea.”

The coroner was just about the remove the bodies.  Robert stood at the bottom of the stairs in Sonny Corinthos’ living room, his hands shoved deep into his pockets.  Sonny Corinthos had died anything but a dignified death.  His legs lay splayed across the couch cushions while his upper body twisted onto the floor.  He had a surprised look on his face, as if he couldn’t believe it when the first shot found its mark.  Robert imagined the enraged howl Sonny had emitted at the searing pain in his shoulder.  The first shot hadn’t killed him.  It was the second one that finished the job and sent him rocketing backwards to the hard floor, eyes unseeing, his blood spilling freely over the carpet.

Robert imagined it was the sound of the first gunshot that had sent Carly careening down the stairs.  She had taken Sonny’s attacker by surprise.  She was already too late to save Sonny.  But she didn’t know that as the bullet ricocheted through her stomach, ripping her intestines to shreds.  She’d tumbled down the stairs, her arms and legs akimbo when she finally hit the landing.  She hadn’t died right away, but she’d bled out before help could arrive.

Robert estimated it had taken all of thirty seconds for Sam McCall to exact her revenge.  Thirty seconds for her take two lives and then end her own.  By the time Max had barreled into the living room, it was all over.  Sonny, Sam, and Carly were dead or dying.  This wasn’t how Robert had imagined the end.  He’d wanted to arrest Sonny, see him put in prison for the rest of his life, see him pay for the lives he’d taken, the lives he’d destroyed.

Sonny and Carly’s two small boys had not been at home during their parents’ murders.  They’d been at day camp and were now in the care of their grieving grandmother.

Sonny Corinthos’ reign in Port Charles was over.  But even as nature abhorred a vacuum, the seat of Port Charles’ Don would not stay empty forever.  Someone else would rise to fill it.  The deadly struggle would begin anew.

Robert took one last glance at the remains of Sonny Corinthos’ legacy, nodded to the coroner, and stepped out into the coming night.  Tomorrow he would face his new enemy.  Tonight, he simply craved the arms of the woman he loved.

“Is Parker asleep?” Robin asked softly, taking her fiancee’s hand as he slipped into bed beside her.

“Finally,” Patrick smiled.  “We should tell him soon about the baby.”

“We both have Saturday off,” Robin mused.  “Maybe we should do something special for Parker, and then we can tell him.  We need to make sure he knows that our love for him won’t change when the baby comes.”

Patrick slid his hand over Robin’s burgeoning belly, gently kissing her on the cheek.  “You are an amazing woman, you know that?”

“It’s easy to love that little boy,” Robin put her hand over Patrick’s and tenderly caressed her bump.

“He is incredible,” Patrick grinned, his dark eyes softening.  “He still misses his mother so much, Robin.  He sleeps with her picture on his pillow.”

“I know,” Robin sighed.  “Nothing will ever really heal that loss, Patrick, but he’s doing better.  He gets stronger every day.  I see it.  He’s beginning to trust you.  Trust us.  I love having him here more than I ever thought I could.”

“See?” Patrick gently captured Robin’s lips with his own.  “Incredible,” he murmured.

“You said you were going to tell me about that phone call,” Robin reminded him, snuggling against Patrick’s chest.  “What sent Jordan running out of here so fast?”

“That call was from Laila’s private nurse, Dana.  Dana thinks Laila is beginning to remember.  She wanted to fact check the accuracy of Laila’s memories. Judging from what Dana said, I really think a full recovery is right around the corner.”

“Oh Patrick,” Robin breathed, her eyes brimming with tears.  “That’s such wonderful news.  Jordan’s gone after her, then?”

“He’s on a plane at this very moment, heading to California,” Patrick said proudly.  “Dad took care of arranging a personal leave for him from the hospital.”

“The Drake men are amazing men,” Robin brought Patrick’s hand to her lips, tenderly kissing each joint and knuckle.

“Can I ask you a question?” Patrick asked carefully, squeezing Robin’s hands.

“Of course.”

“About the wedding,” Patrick said hesitantly.  “Have you given any thought to when you want to get married?  I don’t think we’re going to make our original date.  Our wedding planning went a little off the rails.”

“We’re supposed to get married two weeks from now,” Robin bit her lip.  “On your mother’s birthday.”

“We’ll just pick a different date,” Patrick shrugged his shoulders.

“I’m going to be fat,” Robin pouted, glancing down at her stomach.

“You’re going to be devastatingly beautiful,” Patrick corrected her with a smile.

“I still want to get married on your mother’s birthday,” Robin said softly.  “But even if we could pull together a large ceremony, it doesn’t feel right, not without Laila.”

“I have a suggestion,” Patrick said thoughtfully, sliding his hands around Robin’s waist.  “We could get married at the justice of the peace. Just you, me, Parker and our parents.  After our little one is born, we’ll have a ceremony with all the trappings.  With Jordan and Laila right by our sides.”

“You are a brilliant man, Patrick Drake,” Robin beamed.

“Tell me something I don’t already know,” Patrick teased.  He ran his fingers hungrily over her breasts.  “I’m brilliant at other things too.” His eyes glinted with anticipation.

“I know,” Robin moaned.  “I am a lucky lucky woman.”

“I’m the luckiest man,” Patrick said softly, twining his fingers in Robin’s long hair.  “I almost lost everything, you know.  When you left me, my world lost its axis.  I didn’t know how to not have you in my life.”

“We’ll always find our way back to each other,” Robin straddled Patrick’s waist, pushing him back against the pillows.  She gently eased herself on top of him, trailing her fingers along his chest.

“Always,” Patrick whispered, his eyes glistened.

Two bodies intertwined, joined, and became one.  Two hearts, two minds, one soul.

Aw, is it killing you to write all this happy? Well, I guess Carly and Sonny dieing isn't necessarily happy, but it made me happy! Is that wrong?

I like the Logan/Lulu stuff. It's interesting how you've created a Logan and a relationship for Lulu that doesn't suck, while the show is attempting to do the same and it bites completely.

And I love the last bit about Scrubs getting married with just their parents and Parker, and then doing a bigger ceremony once Jordan and Laila are with them (again, what's with your name precognition?). I love the family they've formed, and Parker truly is a blessed little boy. It's not possible for kids to have too much love, and he's got it in spades.
Your Logan/Lulu rocks. GH's Logan/Lulu does not.

Sonny/Carly are dead! w00t. LOL. But man, Robert's thoughts are right on the money. Sonny may be dead, but this is Port Charles, a new enemy will rise. I'm glad Robert will be ready!

Scrubs. How I love how you write them! Squeeeeeeeeeeee. I love how they're gonna get married and then have a bigger wedding for all to see later!
